FAMILY CONNECTIONS PROGRAMS

Heading 1

Family Connections Holiday Party

During the holidays, BCPS works to make the season brighter for the families of those currently incarcerated. Our Family Connections Events give the opportunity for select inmates to spend a few hours with their children and a care giver. We have amazing volunteers that provide assistance to make the day special for everyone who attends.

Family Connections Picnic

We hold our annual Family Connections picnic every September in conjunction with the United Way Day of Caring. This event provides opportunities for quality time between children and their incarcerated parent. United Way of Berks County volunteers assist with this event and help to make it special for the families.

2019 Family Connections

Picnic

We held our Family Connections picnic on September 12th as part of the United Way Day of Caring. Providing opportunities for quality time between children and their incarcerated parent is so important. Thank you to the United Way of Berks County and to your amazing volunteers for your help in making this event possible. Your compassion and support was felt by all the families who thoroughly enjoyed their time together.  Another thank you to BIG Vision Foundation for donating the food for the picnic.  As you’ll see from the beautiful pictures and smiling faces, the impact of this event was clear!

 2018 Family Connections

Holiday Party

Thank you to all the volunteers who helped to make our Family Connections Holiday party such a joyful, memorable day for the families. Thank you also to the BCTC staff and students in the Culinary Arts program for preparing a delicious meal, complete with turkey, stuffing, corn and desserts. As the pictures show, it was a blessing to see this event unfold as the families were reunited for this holiday celebration. Having this opportunity to spend time with their incarcerated parent brought great joy and hope to the children and reinforced that they are loved and cared about.

Turkey Drive

During Thanksgiving, with the help of Alvernia University, volunteers and donors are able to provide full Thanksgiving meals for the neediest of families whose family members are incarcerated at the Berks County Jail or other correctional facilities.
