ARE YOU ELIGIBLE TO BE A SOCIETY MEMBER?
GIVING SOCIETIES
Berks Connections/Pretrial Services has established three giving societies to celebrate and thank those individuals who share our mission to improve lives and create safer, more prosperous communities by providing services, support, and community reintegration to individuals with justice involvement and their families.

Paul J. and Mary Kate Hoh Society
The Paul and Mary Kate Hoh Society recognizes BCPS’s long-time individual donors, who have given 25 or more gifts over a period of 25 or more years. It is named in honor of BCPS’s founding member and first president, Paul J. Hoh, and his wife, Mary Kate Hoh, who have continued to support BCPS every year since 1975.
Life Improvement Society
The Life Improvement Society recognizes BCPS’s major individual donors who have given $10,000 or more in their lifetime. This includes donors who have pledged future gifts of $10,000 or more to BCPS. Future gifts include bequests, life insurance, retirement, charitable gift annuities, charitable remainder trusts, and others where BCPS is named as a charitable beneficiary.
BCPS Legacy Society and BCPS Endowment
The BCPS Legacy Society recognizes all individual donors who have contributed to the BCPS Endowment or have promised to leave a future gift to BCPS, by including BCPS in their will. Future gifts include bequests, life insurance, retirement, charitable gift annuities, charitable remainder trusts, and others where BCPS is named as a charitable beneficiary.
What are the benefits? The Giving Societies allow BCPS an opportunity to say “thank you” today for gifts in the past and for any future gifts that will benefit BCPS tomorrow. We value your contribution and strive for open communication, close connection, and deep appreciation for your support. Members will be listed in our annual report, receive invitations to special events, have the opportunity to visit and observe BCPS’s Rebuilding Reentrants and Reading (R3) program in action and meet one-on-one with BCPS leadership. Your participation is voluntary; we honor any request for anonymity.
“I alone cannot change the world, but I can cast a stone across the waters to create many ripples.”

BCPS IS A PANO STANDARDS FOR EXCELLENCE CERTIFIED ORGANIZATION

Berks Connections/Pretrial Services is proud to be certified by the Pennsylvania Association of Nonprofit Organizations (PANO) through their Standards for Excellence certification program. BCPS successfully completed this certification program by voluntarily opening itself up to scrutiny by a "jury of its peers" who examined our organization for compliance with PANO's Standards for Excellence: An Ethics and Accountability Code for the Nonprofit Sector.
Standards of Excellence are based on the fundamental values such as honesty, integrity, fairness, respect, trust, responsibility, and accountability. BCPS's programs and services, management, fundraising, and financial practices were examined in depth before the certification was awarded. BCPS is one of the first organizations to be certified under the Standards program that began in 2002.
