Please join us for the Sixth Annual Berks Justice Hall of Fame Awards Breakfast - as we honor local leaders in justice. We thank primary event sponsor Carpenter Technology.
The event is being held on Thursday, October 6, 2011 at the Wyndham Abraham Lincoln Hotel. Registration and buffet breakfast begin at 7:30am and the program starts at 7:50am.

The event will also feature a keynote address by Kelly Altland from St. Joseph Medical Center discussing how our community is coming together to prevent youth violence.

Thank you to everyone who participated in the 2011 BCPS/BerksConnections Community Softball Tournament - Helping Kids One Pitch at a Time! You helped raise $6,000 for BCPS programs that help youth involved in the justice system and children with families involved in the system. The National Criminal Justice Association has awarded Berks Connections / Pretrial Services (“BCPS”) and its Community Reentry Program with its 2009 Outstanding Criminal Justice Program Award. The award was presented at the National Forum on Criminal Justice and Public Safety in Bellevue, Washington. The BCPS Community Reentry Program provides coordinated community based services to individuals recently released from jail, with a focus on job training and employment opportunities.
The NCJA Outstanding Criminal Justice Program Awards are a way to seek out and share successful criminal justice programs. The purpose of these awards is to highlight programs that:
• Address an important criminal justice issue;
• Demonstrate effectiveness based on program goals;
• Are a good example of used of federal funds to initiate the program that is subsequently supported through state and local funds or is self sustaining; and
• Can be easily replicated in other jurisdictions.
