The Berks County Justice System Employment Council works with local employers and our clients - individuals involved in the local justice system - to provide pre-screened job applicants with continuing support and supervision.
How the Justice System Employment Council Works for Employers:All Justice System Applicants:
- Receive Comprehensive Risk-Needs Assessment
- Are Supervised in the Community
- Have a Case Manager
And based on Assessment:
- Receive Job Skills Training
- Receive Mentoring Support
- Undergo Drug/Alcohol Screening (as ordered)
- Receive Support from CareerLink
Our clients are currently supervised and/or case managed by the Berks County Justice System Employment Council member agencies:
• Berks County Adult Probation and Parole • Berks County Jail System / Community Reentry Center • Berks County Domestic Relations Section • BCPS/BerksConnections
Federal Bonding and Tax Credits may be available.
Each year over 6,000 individuals pass thru the Berks County Justice System, either having been arrested, incarcerated in the Berks County Jail System, and/or released under Probation, Parole or Domestic Relations supervision.
Over 90% of these individuals return to communities in Berks County.
The Berks County Justice System Employment Council works to put these individuals to work for local employers - and provides supervision, case management, and other supportive services to ensure that these employees are positive, productive members of the workforce.
With the opening of the new Berks County Community Reentry Center, our agencies have come together to provide comprehensive community-based services to ensure a successful ex-offender reentry - to give someone a second chance.
